What are keywords?
Keywords are terms that people might be searching for when looking for products or information that you provide. When choosing keywords, we should consider our site’s purpose and be as specific as possible, using longtail keywords.
For example, if I’m a yoga instructor, a lot of the content on my site will probably be about yoga. However, the chance of me ranking in the top 3 in a search about “yoga” is virtually zero! Instead, I could pick a longtail keyword such as “yin yoga instructor in Spokane, Washington.” The probability of ranking high in a search for this keyword is much greater. In addition, my likelihood of conversion is higher as well. This is because someone searching for “yin yoga instructor in Spokane, Washington” is actually interested in my product, not just my genre.
